Just A Little Rain

Photo by Alicia Ann @ ProjectAlicia.com

And the days aren’t always sunny

because we all need a little rain

to wash the mudstreaks from our face

and alleviate the pain

it gives a chance for us to cry

without anyone noticing

tears rush out like rain drops

and join the chorus of water falling

our vision becomes a blur

and we feel stuck in a mud flow

but then we remember

rain makes the flowers grow

it’s just a little rain

this is not the end

hold your head up high

spring will come again.

    • I have very fond memories of rain. I come from a third world after all, where there are but two seasons….dry and wet (typhoon) seasons. Although I spent many a day in floods and storms, the way I spent those days with my family always bring back good vibes and memories…. just one of the many reasons I love rain. đŸ™‚

  1. I love the message — a lot. And the rhyme words were very good — not contrived. But the rhythm did not flow for me: that is, the stress/unstress pattern (not necessarily the syllable count). But I am very bad at that stuff too so have no suggestions. But since it is a cool poem, I just wanted you to know one reader’s impression should you decide to re-write sometime. Thanx

    • Thank you for the positive critique! I need some of those once in a while, to help me grow as a writer. I felt towards the end that it wasn’t flowing as well as I wanted, but I thought I might post it anyway because I liked the message. Maybe I will rewrite it someday! đŸ™‚

  2. This is a lovely poem, Janice. True, oftentimes, we need the things we don’t want – like rain, or too much sun. đŸ™‚ Thanks for visiting my blog. Oh, I also visit Project Alicia every now and then. đŸ™‚
