“When He’s Gone”

Day 9 of the 2012 November PAD Challenge

When He’s Gone”

Rivers will continue their endless running
The sun will not cease from shining
The moon will still cling to the sky
Flowers and fields won’t wither and die

Ships will keep sailing on
The fog will still come every dawn
The harvest season will come ’round once more
Waves won’t stop lapping on the sea’s shores

The world will still stay the same
Though it will no longer utter his name
And me, I will go on and on
Even later, when he’s gone.

“Left. Right.”

Day 6 of the 2012 November PAD Challenge

“Left. Right”

You stay there on the left
And I’ll stay right here
Keep your distance from me.

I hate this as much as you
But there’s just no way it seems
to meet at the middle.

Either I follow you on the left
Or you jump right next to me
Are the only options we’ve got.

Can we live this way?
I don’t know.
Left. Right.
Which way should we go?

“Matched”

So excited to be participating in the 2012 November PAD (Poem-A-Day) Challenge hosted by Robert Lee Brewer.

Day 1’s prompt comes from Mariya Koleva: Write a matches poem. The matches could be sticks that make fire. Or it could be matches from a game. Or the verb of “to match.” Or as in the phrase “He’s not a good match for you.” Or whatever other match you can make.

So here goes…

***********************************

Matched

We are perfectly matched, you and I

or so I’d like to think

that we always see eye to eye

and that you always know what I think.

In reality, I’m not really sure

how complementary we are

because you’re rough, and I, demure

and our life’s a battlestar.

Maybe we were wrongfully matched

since that first hello

but we were too mismatched

to agree to both say NO.

***********************************

This was not based on a true story.  I thought I’d have a little fun with it, you know?  🙂
