Facade

At first glance, they look so beautiful and so perfect

And even after lingering for a while

They can still fool you

But look closely at their details

All you’ll find is fake-ness

Perfection is just a facade

Nothing in its beauty is real

It’s all for show

It has no life

Nothing but paper roses…

Cold Autumn Days

autumn forest river

there was a time when on cold autumn days
i would walk on fallen leaves
feel the chilly wind caress my hair
and stroll until comes the eve’

maybe sit a while to listen to a brook
draw a sketch or two or three
marvel at the vastness of the skies
and wonder what life held for me

still i long for days like that
a life with the slowest pace
the gentlest of times
as delicate as lace

Alphabet Poetry Series: “N is for Neptune”

Would that I could live under the sea
I would take you with me
Maybe there, the world is much calmer
Less noise, more clarity

Atlantis might be my one true home
And Neptune will I be
To command water, wind, and weather
To be in harmony

My kingdom will be more vast than land
And prettier, you’ll see
I’ll prepare it all for you, my love,
Queen, for eternity.

Alphabet Poetry Series: “J is for Jailbird”

Laughter fills this place
little feet running
to and fro
screams of delight
lullabies
impromptu dancing
in the living room
vrrroooming cars
giggles over silliness
read alouds
piano practice
laughter fills this place
jailbird
but I am just a jailbird
looking past
vertical shadows
of chains
I fly but
crash my wings
I can only listen
as I perch
on the swing
on the beam
on the water bowl
and look forward
to someday
I can leave
for the skies.
