Alphabet Poetry Series: “D is for Devastated”

meatless meatballs
unscented rose
waterless fish
nonsense prose
sunless moon
wingless bird
timeless clock
wheyless curd
rootless tree
voiceless singer
you-less me
happy-less forever

Alphabet Poetry Series: “C is for Caricature”

I’m not perfect but
I’ve learned to accept me
And within my four walls
I’m quite happy

But outside the door
I’m a caricature
And the world laughs
To my displeasure

No thank you, sir
I’ll stay inside
Live in happiness
Forever hide.

Alphabet Poetry Series: “A is for Address”

Past the pothole
on the middle right
side of the road
right before the
yellow awning house
turn left
then slow for the
kids always playing
hockey on the road
turn right
cruise along for a while
admire the juniper trees
and dodge the tumbleweeds
the blind turn
the burnt evergreen
a dirt road
to nowhere it seems
but
I know it’s there
The place where you live
The place I can’t go
though I pass by
a hundred times a day
just outside my reality
your address.

Perspective

Back in the Philippines, it is very common to see a security guard standing outside the doors of malls, stores, and restaurants.  They open and close the doors for customers.  But more importantly, they keep both suspicious characters and homeless people out.  It’s all about images in the business, you know.

Perspective

oh my asthma
so much air pollution
why can’t I work inside
open, close
infernal doors!
am I Saint Peter?
and those pesky rats
always trying to sneak in
filthy and stinky
bothersome pests
ruining the image
of our prestigious store
a new group
every night
they pick this spot
a sleeping swarm
every morning
I wake them up
and shoo!
shoo!
get out of here!
the store is opening!
oh my asthma
why do I work here?
