Something is happening
the ground is softening
here where I lay
the people passing
still are rushing
but getting farther away
there is a feeling
heart is beating
slowly into calmness
something is shining
mind is reeling
so much joy and gladness
angels singing
no more suffering
peace instead of strife
breath is waning
soul is lifting
ready for the other life.

Those of us who “have” ought to be ashamed that even one child in this world must live so. And pass on with barely a notice that a light was extinguished. They should have had the chance to shine.

You know something good is happening when the ground begins to soften. Nice segue into ultimate relief.

Thanks Linda. I wasn’t sure where I was going in the beginning, but the poem just happened that way. So I kept it! …smiles…

it really bothers me that in this day and age any child has to be on the street. beautiful poem Janice. You’ve inspired me. I’ve been trying to choose a charity to donate 5% of my business proceeds to. It’s so hard to choose. So many can use the help. Your poem…moved me and made the decision for me. Now I’m off to research more charities. Thank you.
